How These 5 Movies Can Motivate Entrepreneurs to Achieve Their Dreams

INSPIRATION ON THE BIG SCREEN

As a very creative person, I absolutely love watching movies. It is the ultimate medium for total creative expression. And as a hermit who works from home, I've spent a lot more time consuming films than talking to people. It's also a calming, cozy vibe for me to be able to pop on some cinema in the background while I'm working online.

1. The Social Network (2010)

This movie is about the founding of Facebook, our lord and savior, Mark Zuckerberg and his journey to create the world's most popular social network. Well, it started as a "Hot or Not" game - but we won't go there. It showcases the challenges he faced as a young entrepreneur, including lawsuits (Winklevoss twins and co-founder Eduardo Saverin), and how he persevered to achieve success - despite being the world's biggest d-

Despite our feelings about Zuck, this movie can leave viewers feeling motivated by his drive and ambition in creating one of the most successful social networks that still reigns today. Although, slowly dying. We hope. It also showcases the consequences of personal conflicts and lawsuits, leaving the audience with a sense of determination to overcome obstacles.

2. The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

If you're going to watch this one, please have your tissue box handy. Based on the real-life story of Chris Gardner, who was homeless and struggled to make ends meet while raising his son. He believes he's going to make it big by being an x-ray salesman for a device that measures bone density. Wild. Then depicts his relentless determination and hard work to become a successful stockbroker. The movie is an inspiring tale of the power of grit and perseverance.

This film heavily evokes feelings of empathy and determination as we witness the struggles of a father trying to provide for his family while facing homelessness and financial insecurity. The story is an emotional journey that teaches the value of hard work and resilience.

3. The Big Short (2015)

One of my all-time favorite films here. You can't go wrong with Christian Bale though. The Big Short tells the story of the 2008 financial crisis and the few individuals who predicted the housing market crash before it happened. The film follows a group of investors and hedge fund managers who bet against the housing market, even as it continued to grow and thrive. It gets really shocking when we see the behind-the-scenes of the mortgage and loan industry. My favorite part is when Margot Robbie explains how sub-prime loans work.

All in all, The Big Short demonstrates the power of thinking outside the box and the importance of research and analysis. By watching this film, entrepreneurs can learn important lessons that can help them navigate the challenges of starting and growing a successful business. And feeling left a bit forked over by big banks who apparently did not - and will never - learn their lesson.

4. The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

Did Leo win an Oscar for this? Can't remember. But one way to get amped up and committed to the hustle is by checking out The Wolf of Wall Street. This movie is based on the wildly, filthy rich life of Jordan Belfort, a former stockbroker who engaged in unethical and illegal practices. Although his story is not one to emulate, the film highlights the importance of honesty and integrity in business. It also shows the consequences of greed and the dangers of taking shortcuts to success.

This movie can leave the viewer with a sense of caution and reflection as they witness the consequences of seriously unethical practices in business. It's a cautionary tale that can inspire the audience to uphold values of honesty and integrity in their own ventures, and to avoid taking shortcuts to success. Unless someone actually does offer you $10,000 to shave your head. Then I'd probably take that shortcut. Hair grows back. Don't judge me. There's things called wigs!

5. Joy (2015)

Love, love, LOVE Joy. I feel Jennifer Lawrence and I have a very similar sense of humor. This movie tells the story of Joy Mangano, a single mother who invented the Miracle Mop and became a successful entrepreneur. The film portrays her struggle to bring her product to market and the obstacles she faced along the way. It's an inspiring story of a woman who overcame adversity and achieved success through hard work and determination. She went from pushing mops in a parking lot to reigning on the Home Shopping Network.
